News and Contests Boardwalk - Your path to elegant living
Boardwalk - Your path to elegant living06 Sep 2012 03.42 GMT
“Oh man, I could so get used to this kitchen. Look at the storage.” The young man in Boardwalk’s presentation centre gives his wife a hug that practically lifts her off her feet.
"No kidding, this culinary centre is a beauty: expansive counter with eating bar, square undermount sink, and a let’s-getserious-sized fridge in gleaming stainless steel. There’s also the first of Boardwalk’s many surprises – an integrated touch-screen television/computer giving convenient, central access to the home’s Control4 home-automation system."
"Still, I confess it’s a dramatic entertainment wall I can see just beyond in the living room that’s captured my attention. Built from white ledgestone, the elongated fireplace, integrated wide-screen TV, and four art niches create an intriguing blend of elegance and drama."
Live Life to the Max
“Our focus is creating homes for real world living,” stresses Rick Johal, principal of Kooney Homes. “So you’ll see lots of small details you might not expect.”
I soon discover every room offers something unexpected: children’s bedrooms with whimsical windowbox seats, masters with the sheer romance of concealed rope lighting tucked behind suspended crown moulding, and a combination rainshower/hand-held shower in the main bathroom – great for when you’re bathing kids or just need to wash your hair. And with 15 – yes I did count them – recessed potlights in the Great Room/Kitchen, you can bet changing ambiance is as easy as one, two, three.
Part of the Neighbourhood
“This is a very quiet, very friendly residential pocket,” Rick says. “And since there are only two entryways, usually only the people who live here drive through, so it’s very safe as well.”
Boardwalk is also a well-connected neighbourhood. You can walk to transit, the new Brickyard Station Mall is just down the road, plus you’ve got parks, new schools and some great restaurants within minutes.
I’m thinking I’ll go check out some of those restaurants myself when I bump into the cooking enthusiast and his wife who are now measuring the downstairs flex-room. “Oh wow, it’ll be amazing for you to have a real office with a real front door – and your desk will fit right there perfectly,” he says. She doesn’t need to reply... her smile says it all.
The Boardwalk offers 69, three-bedroom townhomes priced from $339,900. Presentation centre and display homes are open noon to 5 p.m. daily except Fridays at 7090 – 180th St. in Surrey. For more information, call 604.506.1852 or visit boardwalktownhomes.com
